About this site
I set up this website after spending a few years working as a consulting hydrogeologist for several of the main CSG operators as well as the Queensland Department of Environment and Resource Management.
There’s a significant amount of ‘spin’ associated with the information provided to the public and this also extends to the technical studies. This is not uncommon in science, particularly when there is limited data available. You can make the results say whatever you want.
While I don’t suspect a conspiracy or anything other than the highest degree of professionalism and integrity from most players, the very nature of the impact assessment and environmental approvals process creates generalised conclusions by consultants who ultimately want to keep their client happy. This results in inconclusive reports which are always heavily caveated. I understand this. In most cases there is very little background data to draw on and no professional is going to put their neck on the block to actually give their professional opinion on such a contentious and highly publicised issue.
So… that’s why I’ve started this website. It’s an anonymous outlet for what I really think. While these are just my thoughts, I suspect they’re the ones that most people are actually interested in hearing but are rarely offered when it comes to the CSG industry.

Feedback
I’m very keen for all of your comments and suggestions. If something is not clear in any of the articles or I’ve strayed into technical lingo, please comments so that I can clarify it for you and no doubt many others.
If you have any questions or want a specific topic covered in a future post, please get in touch. Chances are I’ve already written it in one of my reports and can quickly pull something together for you.
